Superintendent

Each new school year presents me with an opportunity to grow from our past experiences and that is exactly what I intend to do as I enter my 2nd year as Superintendent at Kittatinny Regional High School. I truly consider this district to be one of the best in our county and competitive with like district throughout the State of New Jersey. I want to thank everyone who has made this first year a great learning experience, one in which I will not soon forget. Having worked in education for the last 17 years, I have had the opportunity to see and experience many things. Today’s education is quite different from education 20 years ago, and knowing this, I hope to lead Kittatinny with a vision and dedication that allows us to provide the best possible educational experience for the children of this community.

Now a little about my background….
I grew up in a rural community in north-central Pennsylvania. At Mansfield High School, I was involved in many different activities and was actively involved in athletics. I was a four sport athlete, which lead to my interest in the profession of Physical Education and Sports Medicine. I received my dual B.S. degrees in Physical Education and Athletic Training/Sports Medicine from East Stroudsburg University in 1991. After college, I accepted a position at Williamsport Area Hospital Sports Medicine Center. This was a contracted position to provide full-time athletic training services for Williamsport High School. Once at the high school, I was asked to develop and teach classes in Student Athletic Training.

In September of 1994, I had the opportunity to attend graduate school while substitute teaching full time in the Tri-Cities area of upstate New York.

In August of 1995, I accepted a Teaching/Athletic Training position at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, NJ. During my tenure at this Blue Ribbon School, I had the opportunity to expand and refine the student athletic training curriculum and offer it through the elective program. This program attracted students interested in learning more about human anatomy and physiology, first aid/CPR, and athletic injury care and rehabilitation. The program gave students an opportunity to prepare for a field related to medicine at the college level.

In December of 1995, I received a Masters of Science degree in Health Education from the State University of New York at Cortland. I continued my teaching and sports medicine responsibilities at Hunterdon Central and completed my Masters of Arts degree from Rider University, concentrating in School Administration. In 1998-1999 I completed a full year internship at HCRHS under the direction and mentorship of Linda Batz, school principal.

In August of 1999, I accepted the position of assistant principal at Kittatinny Regional High School. At KRHS I was able to develop my administrative style by observing seasoned veterans of the administration profession. In addition to my working experiences, I was also able to enroll in the Doctoral program in Educational Leadership at Seton Hall University where I continued to study until 2003. I feel very fortunate to have had the chance to work for knowledgeable, experienced administrators at each and every level of school administration. To be part of such a stable environment only allows me to experience firsthand, the effective administration of a school district. From top to bottom, KRHS is a quality school district.

In August of 2004 I began my tenure as the Superintendent/Principal at Lafayette Township School District in northwest New Jersey. That experience has given me the opportunity to be thoroughly immersed in the “business” of running a school district and it has allowed me to grow professionally as a school district CEO. Each day is a different experience and I cherished the mornings when I was able to catch a sight of each child entering the school with excitement and a smile on their face. The energy they emit is palpable and this energy keeps me going each and every day. Lafayette Township School District had many of the same qualities of the wonderful districts I have worked in thus far in my professional career.

I look forward to the challenges that await me each day as the superintendent of Kittatinny Regional School District and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to forge real and lasting relationships with the faculty, staff, parents and students of this accomplished school district. I welcome the parents and community to stop by our wonderful school and learn more about the wonderful programs and teachers we have here at KRHS.

Currently, I live in the Columbia, NJ area near the Delaware Water Gap. I am enrolled in the Doctorate program at Seton Hall University to continue to be a life-long learner and in addition…I enjoy the company of family and friends, along with the occasional (might be underestimating) round of golf with my friends.

I welcome you and enjoy Kittatinny Regional School District’s website.
